God bless Ray for his keyboard work on this record, Break On Through, Light My Fire, and certainly The End wouldn't be nearly as monumental otherwise

in my opinion the production actually sucks, a lot. it wasn't recorded or produced well. but the songs are so good and the band are so tight that they manage to shine through the production and it ends up still being way ahead of its time!

That's some heavy shit, man. The Doors fuckin' nailed it with their debut, no question. It's like they grabbed rock by the balls and twisted it into this dark, trippy masterpiece. "Light My Fire" is a goddamn anthem, but those fucks went deep with tracks like "The Crystal Ship." It's all poetry and chaos, wrapped up in Morrison's wild-ass voice. And "The End," man, that's some next-level mindfuckery. It's like they took a damn risk and it paid off, even if some pricks thought it was too out there. You dig the whole Oedipal trip they were on with that one? What's your take on how they mixed all that bluesy, jazzy shit with rock? You think they were onto something, or just high as fuck and struck gold?

Floyd fan, I agree. You could make the argument that the pinnacle of the classic rock era was bookended by the release of those two records.
