Corelli is awesome. I would (actually) start with one of the Naxos releases -- that's how I got involved with his work, and I thoroughly recommend them. When audiofile comes back up, I can make sure there's a non-Megaupload version for you. Man, I miss Megaupload. But that's another story.

Also, I understand your view on Entombed, however, I find them to be a highly refreshing listen. That influential Swedish sound, paired with a raw, dark death metal style will always remain a favorite of mine. It's pure adrenaline...I feel the same way towards other Swedish bands like Dismember and Carnage.

You're welcome. There are actually two DCD albums on there. One is their live album 'Toward the Within', which I don't really appreciate as a whole, but includes some standout tracks like American Dreaming, Don't Fade Away, I Am Stretched on Your Grave, and Cantara. The other one, 'The Serpent's Egg', is just as good as 'Within the Realm of a Dying Sun' and is actually my favorite DCD album when viewed as a whole.

His 12 concerto grossi are my favorite and probably the best place to start. I haven't REALLY listened to anything else. I've listened to the concerto grossi on period and modern instruments and I prefer the modern. They provide a warmer tone and the music really comes alive. Also, his use of counterpoint to present a mood is exceptional.

Yeah, you can tell Truppensturm have really succeeded at executing their vision. I get the same impressions of a wartorn geography, and the same colors. It's like WW1 trapped in a timewarp, raging eternally for the amusement of ecstatic gods of war. Absolutely fucking badass album. I enjoy a lot of "war-metal", but I think this transcends the genre altogether. Anyway, dude, any time you want to talk about metal or recommend some albums, give me a shout. I see some things I don't recognize on your collage, there. What's that on the far bottom right?

Early Graveland is pure atmosphere. Eerily and foreboding. Like Demoncy, but with less of that hellbreath from the colon of doom feeling.
