Hey man, I found your profile through your review of Opeth's 'Morningrise' on metal-archives. I really like your views on the album and reading it made me realise why I've just never been able to get into the band! I was wondering if you could suggest some bands that sound like Opeth but have a good sense of arrangement and songwriting in their music? To me, Opeth can write some good riffs and sections but the overall package of most songs is just plain unmemorable!

Your taste in metal is pretty bad. At least you like Slayer, Summoning, Burzum, Pyrexia, Ceremonium and a few other noteworthy bands. You have a lot of catching up to do, young lady.

it breaks my heart to say how thoroughly i concur with your assessment of hammock's recent output. they've just kind of drifted off into some sort of murky mess of muzak and indifference that makes music for airports sound downright hook-laden :(

Thanks, I will. And you keep enjoying your shitty hipster drone shoegaze crap. :)

I just read your review of Keldian's Journey of Souls and I have to say that it's one of the most ridiculously stupid reviews I've read of any medium. You fucking suck.

Also I have stumbled upon some more christian music that is very moving for certain circumstance, as well as possibly inspirational, if you need any recs let me know. There is some cool stuff that wouldn't be radio friendly( really meaning it has depth, not just a catchy pop sound with churchy lyrics.)

Hey man, as you can tell by my taste I listen to a lot of stuff lol As far as bethel, it is only good for me in sense of grand scale thinking. I have been through a spiritual process for roughly 5 years, through many ups & downs, & have fallen at a place where time calls to listen to them. However, as far as their new album without words, it is a... very interesting thing for lack of better words, i find it provokes great revelation & a soaring imagination. My passions are expounded upon through it, but merely by timing I feel it has been able to do this. So in a sense, I guess it is an acquired taste, as I am sure earlier in my life I would not have been so moved by it. CS Lewis' book "The problem of pain" grandly explains my journey & how I ended up loving bethel worship to such a degree. In short, it helps me stay aligned w/ certain truths of identity & illumination...

Always been a fan of your reviews on MMA and I know you enjoy industrial music, so if I may ask, what do you think of Nine Inch Nails and/or Ministry?

Hey man long time no speak. How's it going? Remember 5 years ago you reviewed my band's CD for Metal Archives? We've got a new one out (and a new name) and I was wondering if you'd be up for giving it a spin? We're called [artist]Buried Sleeper[/artist] and have some free tracks up at the moment, let me know what you think. :) Cheers.

You're pretty good at complex layered advanced meta-trolling, I'll give you that.

You're bad at trolling, Caspian. I had some faith in you but I think it's time to give it up.

good lookin out bro. I've been on a huge Jesu/Isis/Nadja/TAP kick since then. Too bad my iPod doesn't scrobble shit anymore. But, it's almost been exclusively this droney-blissed-metal stuff lately.

Bright Eyes was a...umm...period in my life haha, Nah, my dad is a huge JoC fan, I dig a lot of their stuff. Some for nostalgia and others because they just make good music. I do have a question though: where should I start with the Angelic Process and Nadja?

"no talent just lucky / but they still wanna fuck me" - GENIUS. I've only heard a bit of Darkspace and I think it was older stuff, but they are on my official TO DO list of music to check out. Wouldn't hurt to promote them ahead of DSO in the queue. Isn't all of Darkspace's stuff rare to the point that you pretty much have to pirate it? And oh do you like Amber Asylum? They hit pretty much the whole stuff-I-enjoy list you mentioned, been getting back into them as I dig thru old albums I haven't listened to in ages.
