i'm afraid i'm quite bad at making conversation, but i do miss when the site was more social-oriented so i get it

do you think the problem is the site itself? i think it's something else. don't know what it is though.

well they removed a lot of the social functionality like group forums and decreased the level of customization so i think a lot of is a change in site ethos. i think those changes have probably attracted different kinds of users though so it's probably that too.

oh boy, group forums, i forgot that existed. that was good. i miss the old layout of the site, also.

I'm sorry I took a gander at this convo and I couldn't help but chime in. I miss the old Last.fm as well. I missed the forums, the use of html on profiles, how you could actually message a track for someone to check out, and back when they had their own catalogues of music before Spotify took over :/ I discovered lots of music and interesting ppl thanks to this website. Although it's still sort of a treasure trove for that kinda stuff, I hope it will one day be restored to the awesomeness it once was.

i had only been here for a couple months and i never actually checked out the groups feature at all, so i hope they add that back at some point. forums in general are kind of a bygone thing on the internet so it might never happen, and they've taken it off their list of priorities (i remember them saying when they switched over to this site that it was something they were working on) but i guess there's still hope for that stuff coming back at some point in the probably-not-near future though.

Socialism is cool, so is your library, so I'll follow you. We have a lot in common in looks like, and I am always looking to expand my library. Got any recommendations?

Super music compatibility, agree with your bio (assuming it's not ironic) and you also listen to The Beths. That's some good stuff.

Hi! I'm also just getting into black metal, what are your favorite bands in the genre?

Ahh, I've only been into the genre for a few months so I've got a limited library but here's a few: Wolves In The Throne Room, Alcest, Burzum (specifically Filosofem, I'm not too into his earlier stuff), Darkthrone, Deafheaven, MØL, and Paysage D'Hiver. Also Emperor's first album is worth listening to as well for a proggy approach. Don't know if this is helpful but there you have it

nice shit here. i like how your all-time is super different from your, like, last 90 days. how do you generally handle the disambivalence of being antifascist and at the same wanting to listen to stuff by burzum? i get it, i have the same issue with burzum, and also mgla or deathspell omega and such. do you ever feel like you shouldn't?

For sure I feel like I shouldn't lol. My justification is that Varg to my knowledge honestly doesn't seem to have a truly cohesive ideology and I don't have that many concerns about him funneling any money he might be getting to far-right organizations. He seems pretty politically unengaged. I'm not sure about the situation with mgla and deathspell but for me I draw the line when I feel like I can't be reasonably sure that by listening to someone's music I'm not indirectly supporting fascist groups. Like for me Drudkh is kind of off-limits because they have direct ties to NSBM and seem more likely than someone like Varg to be engaged politically.
