Good taste buddy boyo, saw your shout in Empire!'s shoutbox, chuckled and checked your profile. We have a lot more artists in common than you think; such as Teenage Bottlerocket, Jejune and The Lillingtons. I'd play the shit out of Warning Device and Death by Television way back in '11. But I deleted a lot of artists from my library, unfortunately. :o(

Hahaha I just dug back further and found it! I actually love Empire!, even went to see them and bought a t-shirt. I actually grew to like their name because of how stupid it is.

Too bad I didn't check my notifications earlier otherwise I'd have saved you the trouble and showed it to you anyways. Hahaha I'm glad the name grew on you. To me it doesn't make much sense, kind of sounds like a Star Wars reference to my ears (English is my 3rd language lol). I've unfortunately never seen any midwest emo bands live, only went to a bunch of post-hardcore shows or pop punk shows lol.

He actually explains it pretty well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire!_Empire!_(I_Was_a_Lonely_Estate)#Name Aw man, I wouldn't say they were great live but it was really enjoyable! So hard to catch those midwest emo bands when they only usually last for about a year or two haha

That does explain it well! No idea why I thought it was a Star Wars reference. In my mind it was like, the Deathstar (that is the name of the huge spaceship the bad guys are on right?) is the Empire they sought out and the (I was a Lonely Estate) would then refer to the lyricist being in a much smaller, unnoticed spaceship with nobody to around him. Forgive me I've never watched Star Wars ever. Except for playing that N64 videogame but obviously I don't remember a thing because I didn't play it for the story 'cuz I was too young to understand anyways.

Haven't even had a chance to check if the disc it came with is acoustic - is it worth a spin? You should give Acoustica Situsoca by My Morning Jacket a listen... you may hate it, but it seems like it'd be up your street x
