thanks pal! I spot a fellow feline admirer. I would go with their critical / commercial peak that was 2007's Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever. My favourite is their debut, that's a great lofi garage rock sound and each song is 3-mins perfected - and then if you get into them there's an absolute wealth of B-sides and bonus tracks, most of which are on Spotify. There's a great compilation of theirs called "Payola" if you want a neat overview of their earlier years.

Thanks, just finished their debut, and while in all honestly it wasn't really my thing, there were a couple tracks I really enjoyed and saved. Being 'You were always the one', "Tri'elle', 'Baby Don't Sweat' and 'Direction'. I'll try get to their 2007 Mens Needs, womens needs whatever album soon, the one I probably should've checked out first as you suggested. Regardless of whether I get into them or not, I always enjoy checking out new music whether it ends up being something I continue listening to or not, and thank you for the recommendations. Sidenote: as I got closer to the end of their debut, I started to like the music more, so maybe I need to give it another play soon and maybe I'll be a fan of the whole thing. Only track I didn't like was Third Outing.

I really appreciate your reply and nice to see which tracks you thought were standouts. Third Outing was an experiment by combining all the bits left over from the album session - it even ends with a piano outro that was a composition the bros writing a national anthem for a non-existent country; naturally its a blast on the few rare times its been played live! By the time MNWNW came out the band really found their sound, so hopefully you get more out of that one. Great profile mate

Undervalued band! One of the strongest “comeback careers” of all time - 2008 - 2016 unparalleled (not too keen on the past couple records)

I did not! That sounds great fun if they’re doing all the stuff from that era! The first two albums and demos are really good (Safe as Fuck is a great listen), I liked the hard to find Under the Counter but ASBO4LIFE was really bad aside from 3D and the excellent New Day. I made a mission to listen to everything they put out (pretty much an album a year) on Spotify and it was largely devoid of merit, sadly. Some of the one off stuff is brilliant - like the Wellend GLC-Shanty is priceless. The Mike Balls Boutique is ending things on a high, as trends go!

haha, yes! I love the idea that they just randomly play it at one of their concerts in the 20s... minds would be blown.

Recently I created a big 600+ playlist of all my fave indie/synthy/post punk kind of stuff and over the last couple of months I've mainly had that on shuffle while I'm working/walking. Been getting into Molchat Doma and Nation of Langauge recently too. Had a big ol Depeche Mode sesh yesterday which was long overdue. I think I'm due a Cure sesh. What bout you? x

Thank you! I saw it said "disconnect from Spotify" but it encompassed all devices, I've worked out I need to have Spotify closed on my phone / laptop when I'm listening on the other, that's what's doing it! No more double scrobbles for me :D x

HEY Michael do you know how to stop the double scrobbles? I know it's because I have Spotify on my laptop too which is open all day but if anyone knows a way around this, it will be you. Yours faithfully,

Yes, he did that with a few different artists. Very strange. Whatever their merits, Monster is definitely not the best R.E.M. album and Sky Blue Sky is definitely not the best Wilco album. I guess he was under the impression liking an artist’s worst album makes you appear more knowledgeable, or something. And yeah, the pro thing is pretty good. Being able to edit scrobbles is great in the age of Spotify.

Hello. We bonded back in the day over hating a then-omnipresent last.fm irritant named after a Stevie Wonder album. I had a different account then. Glad to see you're still around.

Yeah I think you're probably right. It would be ideal if he does - and it'd definitely be a victory for him. Not sure if i'm digging that Ariana Grande song - I'm not disliking it though. For something different, here's the performance that got me interested in EN. I'm a a big fan of the guy who turns up at about 3:15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB8mucNRvyw Also for Blixa's stuff with the Bad Seeds (check out those screams towards the end of Stagger Lee) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2G9pJSLOIJs
