mclarge's log, lastfm day 5,686. Still never used the love button. 450 days since I said I'd use this as a journal and then instantly forgot all about that plan, i'd probably say that's my whole personality type, so here I am giving it a go. Average scrobbles per day has increased to 38 per day, i'd now only have to live to 89 to get to my 1mil checkpoint, but I'm so very tired of life already that living another 53.3 years sounds horrific. Stopped going to therapy around summer last year when my therapist used that Confucius two lives quote after I'd told them I don't want to be alive, and instantly I knew it wasn't working for me any longer. Not much else to update. Back to posting shit jokes in shoutboxes.

Hey there, and thanks for the recommendation - I’ve already listened to about half of WORRY, but I’m digging it, it’s chaotic, but in a good way. His voice is really raw; it seems like his vocals are coming from a very passionate place. And while I do love an expert singer, the belting, almost wailing that he’s achieving really hits home with me (much like one of my favorite bands, Foxing - I’d listen to ‘Dealer’ if you’re feeling up to it, the vocalist has this thing with his voice where he belts and his voice does this really satisfying crack and it sounds so emotional), and I’m digging that the sound. It’s funny, lately I’ve been getting into more, idk what it’s called, post-emo, shoegaze, these bands with kind of an alternative sound, with fairly tragic lyrics, with the singer just belting their ass off. So it’s right up the alley of more of the thing I wanted anyway. Again thanks for the suggestion and maybe keep it going, not just with me but with others; I just think it’s neat.

Hello. It's the 31st of January 2023. It's 5,236 days since I created this profile. 194,602 scrobbles. 37 scrobbles per day avg. 1,412 artists. 4,273 albums. 23,830 tracks. Currently sat at my desk bored out of my mind at work whilst I type this, there's work piling up but I can't feel the need to start it. 2022 was weird. Removed myself from basically all social media except I guess this site and letterboxd but I don't really use them socially anyway, I used to just use this site for the stats and making jokes, but it's rare I'll even go to a track or artist page now let alone thinking of something I find funny to write. Started therapy for the first time last summer, hated going for the first 3 months or so, and now it only fills me with dread on the day but at the appointment I'm fine. Not sure how I made it to 31 without learning how to hold a conversation with other humans. Decided I'm gonna start using this a journal sorta thing as its the place I visit the most. Ok cya

Btw, what is the best album you heard this year? Nine is probably ‘Pressure Machine’ by the Killers, but I haven’t really been following new music

I didn't even notice the Killers released a new LP, that's how far off I am on new music this year, I'll check that out though for sure, thanks for the heads up! For music that's come out this year, I really enjoyed Weezer's OK Human and Bo Burnham's Indide (if that counts), but i'm most looking forward to a self-titled record by Dooms Children that's due out later this month, I've loved all the singles so far and its a solo project of a member from one of my favourite bands, so i can tell i'm gonna love it. Any old stuff you've gotten into this year? I've been really diggin' Randy Newman lately

13 years ago today I laid my old jack182 last.fm page that I’d had since 2005 to rest and started a new last.fm page under the username mclarge. I was 17, still in school and no idea what to do with my life. I'm now 30, and working the same customer service job I’ve had since I was 18 and still listening to a lot of the same music I did way back then. I'd like to say I still have no idea what to do with my life, but I feel like that time of having aspirations has long passed me by and I'm very content with this feeling. All I've ever really wanted for myself is financial security so I can live out my existence as peacefully and quietly as possible, which I seem to have for now, and then bring some form of joy to others, this is what happiness is for me. I think in general terms I actually am happy but I tend to dwell on more negative feelings for longer periods of time.

179,110 scrobbles later, if I could tell 30 September 2008 mclarge anything, it would be to not dwell on anything for too long. Happiness is a wave that crests and troughs, the next crest probably won't be the highest and the next trough probably won't be the lowest. Thank you to anybody on the site who has chatted or shared a laugh with me over the years or given me a music recommendation. You've all had a profound effect on an internet stranger. And also, death to the love track button. 13 years on and still not used the love button on a track. Maybe in 2034.

Very kind words i feel very humbled, thank you :) I feel like i've definitely found it, but I also need to remember that I've found it more often! Honestly I feel like if I love button a track all the other tracks are gonna be like "hey what about me", probably some weird issue surrounding love that i'm carrying with me from childhood or something that i'm painting over with humour, the mclarge classic. Obsession button i do enjoy though, feels like I can use that feature and all the other tracks are like "its cool i'll be next time". This has been psychoanalysis with mclarge thank you all for reading.

Thanks so much for asking. I’ve been feeling — not great. Kinda depressed. My mood is all over the place tho, sometimes I’m full of energy and other times I just want to die. College is tough, my teachers suck and one of them is a big jerk. but I promised myself I’d do well this term. I’ve been working on being more organized and more mindful, and I have been doing better this term, even if I still feel pretty shitty. I also had a fight with a friend on Last.fm that I’m still upset about. I used to have dozens of friends on here, but that number has dwindled to just a few as people have gone AFK, and it made me sad to lose another one. Really glad to hear from you, how have you been?

Sorry to read this and see you're not having a great time, although it does sound like you're working on it which is great! I think it's really important to hold on to as many positives as possible in these kind of feelings. I've been feeling quite similar too though in truth, but i think sometimes when i'm on my way back up to a better mood, it feels like i want to just be sad and keep to myself, kinda got myself into a situation where feeling like that is comforting to me, but definitely trying to work on it! My activity on last.fm has basically jumped off a cliff this year, still scrobbling but barely ever coming to the site. Not sure i've even posted a silly shout on any artists page this year. But glad to see you're still here! What is it you're studying in college?

Oh I have seen you around a couple times. it’s my fault for growing so attached to this dead music website, I do miss the sense of community this site had tho, probably the best one I had online. It doesn’t help that I don’t have much else going on in my life, I guess connecting with people from around the world will always be more interesting to me than exercising or schoolwork. That is good advise, I think you have the right ideas, staying stuff in sadness can be tempting but sometimes you have to force yourself to do stuff you might not want to, like going out or working out, and eventually you get into the grove of it. Oh, and I’m studying economics with a minor in communications

You're welcome, thank you for the follow back! I've seen you around sometimes and I always loved your avatar. I also love the fact that the last album you listened to was The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails because it's one of my all time favorites. :D

Haha that's cool, I'm glad my beautiful doggo doing a goofy face is getting some hard earner recognition! That's my first ever listen to any Nine Inch Nails album too! I asked for a recommendation and a user passed that onto me. I wonder what the chances are of that at the time you'd visit my profile, the last album I listened to was my first listen to one of somebody's favourite albums. Hurts my head to try and work that out. Anyway, I thought it was a cool record, I think I need to give it a few more spins as it seemed pretty raw and I don't think I got the full effect from it whilst having it on whilst working.

You can sort of fix it yourself. Download Privacy Badger for your browser and block fonts.gstatic.com when you are on Last.fm. This will revert the font to Arial, at least that's what it looks like to me.

Thanks. I use Last.fm for myself, but you are one of the people I’m fondest of so it means allot. I resolved to be extra kind and not make it too big of a deal. I got a record player and my first vinyls (A Love Supreme and Kind of Blue) as a gift, and I watched the two part paintball episodes of my favorite show community. I quite enjoyed the day, and then I immediately fell back into my old habits LOL

No problem! Yeah, I feel what you mean, I'd still use the site even if there was no community aspect to it left at all, just me shouting nonsense into then abyss, watching the scrobbles roll on, but users like you bring a lot of joy. Your day sounds like an absolute treat! I have fond memories of being a kid and Kind of Blue being on in the background on my dad's record player, not that I knew what it was at the time, I only connected the dots a few years ago going through his stuff. Glad you enjoyed some of the day!

Stumbled across you looking at some comments on Dallas' new album - which I'm a huge fan of! Stand outs for me are Young Lovers, difficult love, strangers and the War Years. Love the psychedelic heaviness of Astronaut - I've listenened to it more than If I should go before you more times I reckon already. Just fixed scrobbling issue I've had for over a year with spotify and my sonos devices - New Year - a great time to start the year right!

I read the whole review in Weird Al's voice, I give it an official mclarge authenticated rating of 9.76 goats out of 10 because I really felt sad about the Wholly Mammoth spelling mistake, I would'a marked it down further, but I can't verify that maybe that's one of the side effects to eating Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears.

There was one thing bugging me about the new look and I couldn't put my finger on it until i read this! I've been debating removing my sub for a few months now, just not sure if can justify the money for being able to use the site Ad-free if they aren't making any improvements to it, especially when there's Adblock i could use instead. Also the undoing of all the previously corrected scrobbles reverting back to their incorrect tags is super annoying, how do they break everything everytime they change something! I've lost count of how many scrobbles i've deleted from when i was using Spotify that were previously corrected automatically. Should i take the plunge and unsub?

Hey mclarge, thanks for the wonderful comment and follow! It's always a pleasure to steer someone to an artist that they enjoy. I look forward to spending some time in your library as I'm certain I'll find some hidden gems in there to add to my own. Rock on my friend :)
