A lot of music grows old and familiar w time, and you get tired of it - but that Slint album just keeps becoming more affecting and fresh. same goes for Neutral Milk Hotel from the same era.

I'm not sure what he is using - he;s been incommunicado for the past few years; but I, at this point, listen primarily with my itunes and I use Spotify for adding new artists. Back when I was trying to really add a lot of new artists i was scrobbling with last.fm radio (no longer available as far as I know) and scrobbling youtube (also no longer available for scrobbling). Also I used FMA (free music archive) and I'm not sure you can still scrobble from that but they have a zillion artists you might not find anywhere else.

oh, thanks but it's no big deal - it just takes 18 years. I think what was much more difficult was getting ~140,000 unique artists.

Dumb question; but how do you see who's the top listener for an artist?

you click on the artist name then you click listeners you know and it shows who in your friend group has the most scrobbles of that artist.

I've never used soulseek and am not sure exactly what it is. years ago I used an app called acquisition which was a file sharing sort of thing; but I think that is long gone. Timeless bands for me? I'd say the 80s SST bands like Black Flag, Husker Du, Minutemen, Meat Puppets.

There are a lot of bands I don't listen to any longer; but then again it's fun to rediscover stuff you liked when you were really young. The reason I have so many scrobbles is that my itunes has been playing most of the time since 2006. That's just the way I roll.

oh man, "cringe" as the kids would say! I really like the Mike Watt/Jim Keltner/Mike Baggetta records that have come out in recent years. I would assume you've heard them but if not you should check 'em out.

A few years ago I saw Watt had a podcast. He was putting new episodes up nearly evert day and they were a couple of hours long. I just didn't have the endurance to listen for that long. He's a guy with a lot of creative energy, I guess. I'll check out the new stuff. Thanks.
