Woah small world. Yea, myopic is pretty great but the Seminary Co-op in Hyde Park is probably the best bookstore I have ever been to. It is academically focused, carrying new titles that you can't find at most other bookstores along with every other serious work of the last few hundred years worth reading. And if the co-op doesn't satiate you there are 3 additional myopic-like bookstores within a 5-minute walk. I can spend all day getting coffee and shuttling back and forth between them. Next time you are in town you need to check it out and if you need a guide I would be more than happy to oblige.

Have you heard of thesixtyone.com? Its hard to describe but think of a more social Pandora but with scrobbling support and an in-depth quest/reputation system that drives you to discover new artists. I have been kinda hooked on it for the past few days. Finding lots of really good stuff. If you try it out, track me down at the same username.

Indeed. Unfortunately it is a digital-only release. I bought a copy off of Amazon. Some tracks are new, 4 are from the Everything Ends in Spring EP, and others are alternate takes of past tracks. Track 3, "Make It Take It", is fast becoming one of my favorites. In other news, amanset.com appears to be gone.

we went on a roadtrip down there about 8 years ago..after leaving the observation area without seeing anything, we saw something shoot up out of the ground as we were driving away..other than the mystery lights, it's turning into a pretty cool little artist community down there. An artist named Dan Flavin turned this former army barracks into a fluorescent light art installation..http://www.chinati.org/visit/collection/flavinmore.php..very cool stuff

You're spot on. Now that you mention it, I can't remember if this was something I've been thinking all along, but didn't say anything, because I didn't think I knew anyone that knew Beulah, or if I'm only thinking that because I couldn't think of who it was it sounded like until now when you nailed it. New Kid Revival is Beulah exactly. I think I've been thinking the same from the start. I think we both had the original thought independently. I think. Anyway, it's great. I only have one Beulah. Have you listened to them much? Cheers.

I'm ashamed to say i've never been to sxsw, i've made it to austin city limits a few times though. did you have fun in boston? my sister always raves about it. I'm going up to nyc in late october, maybe i can take a train up to there for a day or two. I definately need to make it up to Canada, for those reasons you mentioned *cough*:), and if I happen to see Feist, i'm gonna propose to her.....if your'e into hiking and outdoors stuff, dallas kinda sucks(lol), but central texas has the Hill Country and further south towards Mexico, Big Bend National Park. I think you'd like New Mexico and Arizona a lot too, beautiful scenery...I love that The Brother Kite cd...I have to listen to Get On, Me three times in a row

hey happy bday, welcome to the 25 club!! ....Texas has some decent hiking, there's the Hill Country area which runs near Austin and some ranges closer to Mexico, not much compared to up north and Canada I'm sure. I really haven't been north too often, I think the furthest north iv'e been is either NYC or Chicago. I would love to go to Canada sometime, I've heard great stuff about Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, all the major cities there. I don't know much french, but i could listen to it all day, it's a pretty sexy language lol

i wish we had some mountains near dallas, austin is kinda hilly, but pretty flat here..already wearing sweaters??! lucky!! i think my favorite time of year is when i can start wearing sweaters or coats, but it doesnt happen here until late october or november,haha...that's pretty cool that your close to canada, i've always wanted to go to toronto or montreal...do you make it up there alot? On the new tvotr, I like what i'm hearing so far. This band evolves with every album they put out and this one has a brighter, funkier feel to it. I think "cryin'" might be my fav so far...btw check your inbox

i bet parts and labor would be nice and chaotic, i love their sound, especially "brighter days".. i need to check out the rest of their stuff....i'm sure the market is good for bakers, there's always a lot of new restaurants, cafes, bakeries opening up everywhere...im pretty sure austin is the same way... about the ny winters, i think i might take a cold, snowy winter, over the miserable, humid texas summer, lol, i can't wait for it to cool down at least to the 80's

You need to improve my taste in music! For a start, my cd and record collection is severely lacking in Yé-yé! :) Hope you're having a good weekend!

yes, very excited about these bands coming!, not too thrilled about the venue deerhunter is playing at, but there's no way i'm missing that show...but anywayz, dallas is cool, huge place, lots of jobs and low cost of living, but pretty conservative. while austin is more liberal and has more natural beauty, plus they get AWESOME music fests, have you heard of the FUN FUN FUN fest? i might go just for The National. but, yeah you should move to Texas!, just wait till hurricane season is over with first though, haha
