the hell bro you are the ultimate strawman. so what if i like light pop music? music isn't clothes where you just grow out of everything you like, sure you like some things at some age, but things stick. it's sad you don't like it now, because it's a nice song, I personally would hate to not like songs i used to listen to. you can have a deep appreciation for a "shallow" song. since that's true, is it really "small" and not "high art"? everything is someone's favourite. sure, not all music is created equal, it's different, but it can be enjoyed equally. a pop head or an edm fan can enjoy some bleeps and bloops and a chick singing as much as someone else just speegs the heck over a Mendelssohn symphony or something. were you always like this?

Sorry, but this song is insanely good! I remember when it first came out, it was so popular that the local dance radio station had to play it once an hour, on the hour! They did that for like a week. It was a moment!

I think I've figured it out. It's not that the song is "ironically good", it's that the song is so incredibly good that experiencing it directly is like staring into the sun, and you need at least one layer of detachment or irony to be able to experience its glory.
