I love this song on its own, but I can't help but see the very striking similarities to Learning to Live. It's structured very similarly, you can point to sections that line up with its predecessor, and they both reference neighboring songs in their respective albums. I don't really care though, as I love both songs.

Great call! I started noticing the similarities as soon as I saw your comment, I didn't think of it right away. As you said though, both songs are awesome! Love Petrucci's solo on this one, kind of reminds me of Gilmour.

I can't get enough of this song... it was released and I fell in love with it during a period of grieving my mother dying and it is forever linked to my feelings for her... yet it makes me feel so exhilirated and happy. Can't fucking wait to see where the next album takes me. Solo section never ever fails to give me the epic chills <3

This is one of the best songs they've ever composed. Myung is one of the strongest lyricists they have, and he's also one of the most underutilized.

3:15 - Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is how you use a guitar. It actually has purpose and isn't wanky.
