Yeah, this is nearly as good as the Gabriel/Rutherford/Banks/Hackett/Collins albums, if not as good. Tremendously underrated album [2] What a beatiful peace of music this album is!!

This may be my favorite Genesis album, to be honest. So many great ones, but for some reason, this one really strikes a chord with me.

It's probably my favorite, too. I love the whole 'English pastoral' quality to it with all the bucolic imagery and beautiful soundscapes. If you like this album you should check out Anthony Phillips's first solo album "The Geese & the Ghost" if you haven't already. That album demonstrates just how much he contributed to the overall sound of this album.

This album is gorgeous, I love the 12-string guitar harmonies and the whole acoustic folk-feel. It really demonstrates how Genesis stood out in the prog-rock scene at the time, especially considering how young they were at time. How is it that a bunch of kids in their late teens/early twenties write such profound, complex and beautiful music? Also, I find that this album is best listened to during winter.

I ask myself that all the time. You look at what kids in their late teens/early 20s now write, and the songs are really pathetic. Meanwhile, the 60s and 70s groups wrote songs with a maturity way beyond their years. But not only were the songs more mature, but the groups SOUNDED like mature individuals as well, not a bunch of whiny kids who don't know how to sing or play their instruments correctly.

Heh, came here to write how similar some of the 70's prog sounds, but I notice it today too with contemporary music. We had some brit waves like Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party perhaps even Arctic Monkeys that really had the same energy, vibe and such. I also realised in old documentaries that The Who, Beatles and even The Rolling Stones had the same generic cutesy style that your mum in-law would accept.

This album is really beautiful. it's so much better than the very first album they put out, this feels more like it should be their first album. also, I really love the imagery the songs give me when I listen to it, it's really inspiring for art.

I think this one deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with Foxtrot and Selling England by the Pound.

Everything's a little rough around the edges, but the quality of the writing is all there (and arguably better than much of the next few albums). Superb album.

The 2008 remaster was badly needed for this album. It now sounds much more crisp and clear. It has helped me love this album even more than I did previously.
