now Ridiculously underrated, probably one of the most underrated bands of all time. No idea why the criticis hated them, they have some of the best albums of the 70s and frankly some of the best albums ever made. To give you an idea of how looked down upon the band are, the Simpsons writers made it Homer's favourite band, and that is very much how music snobs viewed GFR's fanbase. Anyway, listen to The Red Album, Closer to Home, Survival & E Pluribus Funk, three albms churned out in under 2 years between 1969 and 1971. Amazing. Great tracks on other albums: Loneliness, The Railroad. Inside Looking Out one of the best cover songs ever, when the guys were not even yet out of their teens. Shame what happened to them after their breakup, and screwing Mark Farner out of the band, but 99% of bands end in similar disarray.

Очевидно, Mark Farner сначала откровенно гонялся за лаврами Джимми Хендрикса, что показывают выкрутасные партии (всех троих) на первых трёх альбомах. После - либо повзрослел, либо здоровье не потянуло. И пошло-поехало - перепихивание вокальных партий на барабанщика Брюэра, упрощение соло, нанятие клавишника, переориентация на хиты, так и закончились в 75-м.

One of America's finest hard rock acts. It's great that Some Kind of Wonderful appears on GTA: San Andreas. That's how I got to know Grand Funk Railroad more. I might have known the song We're An American Band before.

Such an amazing band that's underrated as hell! Definitely in my top 3 Michigan bands.

Considering these guys sold so many records back in the day, they seem to be largely forgotten compared to a lot of their contemporaries. Such a shame, they were a great band. Hard to beat the original 'power trio' era of Grand Funk.
