It is a really mediocre album. I've tried getting into it multiple times, but just can't. I'm pretty certain that the people singing praises for it are the ones that pre-ordered it and are just trying to justify themselves.

I still hear the cryptic and cavernous aspect in Abyss of Wrathful Deities. Maybe they don't allow their slow-churning riffs to simmer and boil like usual, but I don't think the mystique is lost as much as others say, even though it isn't far from the truth. They did lose some of the atmospheric quality by abandoning their long drawn tremolo riffs.

New album is disappointing. Relentless and focused? Their previous albums were about as focused as it gets, now they're straying into death/thrash riffs and too many boring Slayer solos that don't really fit with their standard style. The overly clean production isn't doing them any favors either. Grave Miasma was good because it sounded cryptic and ritualistic and as though it were reverberating from a tomb made of bones. Without those things they're just another generic death metal band.

new album is pretty generic OSDM, quite uninspired and almost entirely lost that particular ritualistic vibe of their previous album.. what are people harping on about ?

Just ordered "Odori Sepulcrorum" on vinyl. Needless to say, I'm more than excited. From what I've seen, packaging is incredible.
