Muuuahahahahahhahahahah… Royalties to the original blues men who penned all those great melodies and chord progressions?!?!? Yeah, that will be the day… and I’m a Chinese jet pilot. Sorry, I just know how the system works and for the masters, it doesn’t.

Just saw the BBC's Folk America and, in the very final minutes of the three part series, when they are talking about how pop moved away from classic folk, a talking head (not sure who he was) says, "of course, folk still pops up from time to time in the most unexpected way" and mentions this Henry Thomas track, and then the programme fades into Canned Heat singing "Goin up the Country". It's good that Henry has at least got his posthumous recognition.

Which group ripped this arrangement off in the 1970s/1980s? Was "going to the country?" the title of the track. The estate of Henry Thomas should have been credited some substantial royalties.

I like the older older guys, like him. They heard the first kinds of blues played in the 19th century, and you can hear some of that in their playing.
