this album unironically changed my life. i always told myself as a kid that i would never get into music. i got bullied a lot in school for being autistic, and most of my bullies were really into music. i ended up associating my pain with music at the time. however, watching the toronto smoke + mirrors live on tv made me discover how much love i had for music deep down. this was all i listened to for over a year when i realized music was actually cool all along. i dont know where i would be right now if i never discovered this album -- considering that all my main interests have been music related for the past 7 years. it was a big domino effect that shaped who i now am as a person. i discovered so much about myself through music, i genuinely cant imagine myself living without it. smoke + mirrors will forever have a special place within my heart. 💖💖

say what you want about origins and mercury but this and night visions are actually pretty nice. evolve wasn't too bad either tbh

tá que não é >meu< favorito, pois têm coisas que eu amo muito e tem coisas que acho "errr" num nível hard, mas é inegável que esse álbum é líricamente bem mais carregado que os outros, sonoramente então.... você vê um cuidado tanto nos instrumentos, qnto na voz do Dan e isso se destaca, tanto que é o que a crítica "menos bombardeou". todavia acho que sonoramente ele sofre com o mal da tracklist, que tantos artistas pop sofrem, tem algumas faixas que mais parecem que foram sorteadas e/ou jogadas pra tá ali na lista, falta uma coesão e coerência maior entre as mesmas, pois chega em momentos que vc fala WHAT THE FUCK? e ouvir se torna uma experiência até chata e tediante. btw uma pena não ter tido um mega hit, muita gente acho que nem conhece e so sad :((
