Had to put my cat down a few hours ago and discovered this song. Feeling miserable and missing my little girl so bad. I love you, Moon. Thank you for everything.

It's been almost a month and I find myself going back to this so much ... both a mixture of feeling sorry for myself and finding solace. No one will see this or care and I'm basically talking to myself, but I should be working and I feel better writing about Moon. We adopted her in 2016 and discovered that she was much older in 2018 and also had stage three kidney failure. She had a pretty tough 2020 with a lot of medicine and eventually was diagnosed with stage four failure in the fall that year. We did a lot for her throughout this year and even got her back down to stage three ... but in early June we found out she had oral cancer and it was aggressive. The 28th we said goodbye and it's so empty at our house now. The line "you can go now" in this beautiful song speaks such volumes to the grief process of acceptance and I find myself wrestling with it so much. I had never bonded with an animal like I did little Moon and while I'm glad she's not in pain, I miss her terribly. <3
