Ok, so try this little experiment: load up amazon.com's MP3 Downloads in two browser sessions. Get to Regina Spektor in one and Laura Marling in the other. The first song for Regina (for me, anyway) was My Dear Acquaintance. Laura's was Sophia. Click the preview button on one of them, then quickly do so for the second. Listen to the two voices side-by-side. First of all, it is kind of amazing that the song snippets do not clash with each other in fact it was hard for me to remember which song was being sung by which gal. Second, there are similarities to their voices - they have similar pitches for example. Laura's dialectic accent is differentiable from Regina's, understandable since one is from England and the other born in Russia. But, at the end of the day, I agree with "sucky" James Blunt down there - these two could be confused for each other. Whew, glad I got that off my chest!

No wonder it sort of sounds like a female version of Mumford & Sons - it has Marcus doing the backup. Now it makes sense.

Laura is one of the greatest singer-songwriters today. The depth of her talent continues to amaze and enthrall me. Love her.

She sounds naff all like Regina Spektor. I love them both, but that's just plain wrong.
