So fucking good. i'm not one to seethe over some music publication's rating to music but how do you even rate this zero. this album makes me feel so much love & warmth & naivety & nostalgia. & i was -2 years old when it released so that's saying a lot. it makes me feel like im in an early 2000s romcom. such a beautiful feeling

I think it's safe to say that for an entire generation, this was our introduction to Liz Phair. And honestly, regardless if it's "overly polished" or "not as indie" as her previous works or yada yada yada, I think this holds up as a very solid pop album. Also Pitchfork can go fuck themselves.

110%. Why Can't I? and Extraordinary were my gateway to Liz's discography - and quite honestly, the lyrics here have way more in common with her other work than critics at the time were willing to admit, it's just that everything surrounding it was more produced.

Oh, and: Now I've got some advice for you little buddy, before you point your finger you should know that I'm the man, and if I'm the fucking man then you're the fucking man as well so you can point your fuckin' finger up YOUR AAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, all you know about me is what I sold you, dumb fuck, I sold out long before you even heard my name, I sold my soul, dipshit, and then YOU. BOUGHT. OOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEE.

For a supposed sellout pop-rock album, that was surprisingly painless. It sounded to me more like a natural progression from Space Egg...

Nowhere near as bad as people like to make out...nowhere near as good as her other albums [2] Got this yesterday, as I love her in general. It's still got her in it, still her unique style, just poppier, and not as good. A lot of fun though!

Yeah, it's her worst album, but there are still plenty of things to enjoy. The Matrix-produced tracks are at least fun - it's impossible not to dance to "Extraordinary" and "Why Can't I?" (and "Rock me" has very funny lyrics). But my favorite is definitely "It's Sweet". It's among the best songs she's ever done, full of bittersweetness in verses like "It's sweet how you believe you're in love with me".

I love Red Light Fever, Take a Look, Little Digger, Firewalker, Friend of Mine, Good Love Never Dies and Hot White Cum. There are some truly mortifying songs (rock me...) but the ones I mentioned are, imo, great

On the edited version of this album, there are 13 tracks: HWC is missing and there is the edited version of Why Can't I? On the parental advisory version, HWC is track 11 (after Love/Hate), Why Can't I? doesn't bleep out the word f**ked, and there are 14 tracks total. Hope this clears up the confusion.

Rock Me is bad, but the You don't even know who Liz Phair is is so fun to sing-along :P. I forgot about My Bionic Eyes, that song is probably the best along with Friend of Mine.

It's a fun mess if you're not paying close attention. It's Sweet is a credible pop ditty, Firewalker is impressive yet incongruent, My Bionic Eyes is positively drtipping gloriously with derision and Friend of Mine is a simplistic yet hugely affecting song. The aforementioned tracks are the ones I consider to be good. The rest range from bland (Little Digger) to unbearable (Rock Me).

The only songs I really consider CRAP here are actually HWC and Favorite. On the other hand, I think Red Light Fever, Take A look, Firewalker, Friend of Mine and Love/Hate get the job done pretty well.

My least favourite Liz album, equal with Somebody's Miracle. It has some good poppy songs, but it's outweighed with crap songs.
