Originally posted on wilburs last fm i had the name goobysoot and was able to change my name to the one i use now wilbur/lovejoy was a key part of changing my music taste for the better and now that i dont even listen to either lovejoy or him if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have met some people and i wouldnt have a new favourite artist (james marriott) so honestly kinda surprised im gonna say this but thanks wilbur i sometimes wish he didnt get exposed but oh well popular people be like that sometimes so

hey, i know im late to this convo but i think its pretty bad to stream an artist's songs when theyre problematic because you are directly giving them money from streams. as a former wilbur/lovejoy fan who couldnt just stop listening to the music since it held a very special place in my heart, i started avoiding it and when i really felt like listening to it i just pirated the music to make sure that i wouldnt make them money, hope this helps! and a reminder: its still bad to stream lovejoy even though the rest of the band didnt 'do anything bad' – theyre still supporting wilbur by keeping him in the band.

@ sam: i noticed you listen to a lot of omori. did you know omocat, the creator of omori was found to overwork and underpay her employees? you also listened to mccafferty this week. did you know nick hartkop abused his girlfriends and his own bandmates? and going to your all-time, i noticed kikuo and maretu, but did you know kikuo wrote a manga about CSA and maretu has grooming allegations?

point is, u cant go around saying "dont give problematic artists streams and money!" without checking your own playlists. i understand if you personally dont want to listen to lovejoy, but gooby obviously wants to listen to them, so gooby should have the right to choose to play them or not. there is no "right" or "wrong" in listening to music
