I respectfully disagree :) it is an established artist celebrating her path and growth with an album with vintage blige sound, old friends and treating her fans to her current vibe of accomplishment. But true, pain and drama often inspire better music than joy and gratitude haha. I love God's child ♡

London Sessions was the opposite of vintage Blige, it was adventurous and different in my opinion, she was going out of her comfort zone. She's just to catering to die hard fans now with a very adult r&b album, not as exciting to some, I get that. It's way more niche than previous work. But hey, nice to meet you, I'm Simon and love Mary as well ♡ have a great day!

What's the 411? is one of the greatest debut R&B albums of all time, if not the greatest. So much class and refined talent on display on that record, rare qualities for an artist to have on their debut. Just from that record alone she became one of my favorite R&B singers of all time, the way she incorporated the jazzy vocals and hip hop influences just sounds so mature and cool. Love how her voice just soars throughout that record

Just listening to it for the first time and pretty surprised about the quality, that's really a strong debut! And just came along the "This is Busta Rhymes, spelled with a A"-line and literally laughed out loud! :D

yes, even a refrigerator with an ice cube dispenser. fluffy my penguin is happy. Now all he needs is a lovely penguin lady 🐧 to cuddle with in his new fridge. 🙃

MJB has entered my Top 50 Artists!!! For the first time in 16 years!!! Strange/funny/notfunny how I finally started to relate to her music in the last few years. Her album titles say it all: #NoMoreDrama #GrowingPains #TheBreakthrough right through to the very apt #GoodMorningGorgeous ♥

i was looking forward to watching it but was kind of disappointed that it was just about the album My Life and not a documentary of her whole life. then again I'm not a hardcore fan, kind of a new fan. still interesting though.

I’m sure Mary considers My Life to be her most personal album so you will a lot about her and how it has shaped her today through that album. Also while filming the documentary, she was one tour for the 25th anniversary of the My Life album and that’s where a lot of the footage and interviews come from. Glad to see a new fan!

yeah makes sense, I've only listened to all of her albums once but I want to listen to them all again. No More Drama and Growing Pains contain more relatable material for me so I look forward to re-listening to those.
