Maybe you could try some of their newer albums instead of their first one plus a random single (that was re-recorded/expanded on their second album). They've only been getting better. I checked out their first album after listening to With Dim Light and I bounced off it, as well. It feels a bit disingenuous to judge a band solely on their first release, though. Then again, you may just not be a fan of motorik/krautrock stuff. That's fine.
