Pearl Jam... I mean.. Mother LOVE bone were as hair metal as... Vixen... As little bit groovier than Richard Marx, but definitely a lot cleaner than Wendy O. Williams. Not as extreme as Extreme... But then again, not as scruffy as the people in Skid Row. Except the first album.. actually that might be a good comparison in terms of looks.. skid Row's first album on the look department.. and a lot like Faster Pussycat's second album in the sound and music department. So at the time, people put hair metal down using Pearl Jam as an example, but they forgot Mother Love Bone was one of the many bands with that sound and that look. Groovier but still Hendrix esque. Which is not a bad thing. But people should call it what it really is because for a long time MLB as grounds for PJ's breakthrough in popular rock culture has been ret-conned. And the roots are clearly for me, elsewhere. But just as essential if not more.

Idiots-Rule
"Apple" is one of my favorite albums of its era. It's cool how it can fit so perfectly into both grunge/alternative and the glam/hard rock scene of its time. A perfect example that some glam and grunge really weren't that different.

Ugh, always have conflicting feelings when I listen to MLB, utter shame Andrew past so soon as Apple is pretty damn flawless but then again we wouldn't have Pearl Jam if it hadn't have happened... Still, got to love what they did get to release

When I feel down and think about going back down that dark road with my girl, heroin, I listen to this song and Remember how i got myself clean and back on track. Sad that Andy couldn't find the peace I found in Life... RIP Brother, and Inspiration.
