Dad-of-Amelia
for those who may not already know. it is about him leaving Crosby,Stills & Nash and big money behind to focus on his own path. a diss song, rock intellectual style...ain`t no hollow threats to pop a cap up anyones derriere.

I see it more as Neil reflecting on the past ten years of his life. Yeah, some of it's about the end of CSNY but it's also on his own troubles, the loss of friends and the forces within that kept him moving forward despite the hardships.

it`s testament to how great an album Rust Never Sleeps is that Thrasher is arguably not the best song on the album.the vast majority of artists would have dined off recording such a great song for 20 ,30 years or more..Neil was pissing gasoline in the 70`s to such an extent that outside NY fans,it has slipped most music fans attention.nobody in the history of music has ever had such a decade of consistent brilliance that NY did from Everybody Knows this is nowhere in `69 to Rust Never Sleeps in `79. still making great records too.

"Some truly powerful, insightful and poignant lyrics." Seriously. Amazingly perceptive, precociously self-aware stuff from an artist who would spend the next three and a half decades (and counting) doing phenomenal, honest and vital work, while contemporary after contemporary (not to mention many a younger artist flaring up and disappearing) fell by the wayside, mired down with nothing left to offer or caught in cycles of mindless repetition and pointlessly youth-revisiting nostalgia.

One of the best songs I've ever heard, the lyrics are perfect and that harmonica at the end is a beautiful touch
