i haven’t listened to the new self-covers yet (the re-recorded “you get what you give” for the inauguration sucked) , i guess even if they suck too it’ll be interesting to hear gregg “reclaim” songs that could’ve been new radicals hits if they had continued…but man is it tiresome to see him act like such a giddy lapdog for establishment dems. don’t get me wrong, i by no means take the name of the band literally (lol), but…that last verse of your all-time great song was about scum like bill clinton and tony blair, do you seriously not recognize that biden and emhoff are just more of the same? you were right in ‘99 and shit’s only gotten 10x worse because of these people. you can become a lazy old complicit neolib if you really want to, but the nice thing about new radicals was that it was great pop with a timeless message, frozen in amber. stop forcing us to associate it with the goddamn bidens ☻

His message about returning was pure cringe and it's disappointing but not surprising. I love Murder.., which sounds like an old recording, but he really chokes on the high notes Lost Stars.

the “wonder” comes from them not being able to get another hit after becoming established. new radicals don’t qualify because the unique thing about them is that they never tried

ah yeah depends on your definition of one hit wonder I guess. but to me a one hit wonder is a band or artist that have only one song that the general public knows them by and how long they existed is irrelevant. I also don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to be one BTW.

i finally gave in. after twenty years of seeing countless copies of the album in thrift shops and clearance bins, i reached out and purchased one for myself. one of the millions of orphans out there has been given a new home. stunned to find this is essentially an american version of britpop/madchester.

gotta say, i barely listen to them besides the two all-time classic songs, but still, i'm a little embarrassed that didn't immediately occur to me from the first time i played the album. i always just thought of them as a weird early '90s alt rock guy trying to adapt to the differently weird poppy late '90s sound of american radio rock (third eye blind self-titled), but you're right, it's britpop through and through...the fact that it was well over half a decade late to the trend on the wrong side of the world probably threw me, but damn is it obvious lol

it's far more apparent from the album than the singles. and truth be told, it's a pretty decent album. a shame the band didnt continue. must've been a breath of fresh air on late 90's radio.

I remember New Radicals from the late 1990's. I remember Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too being a really popular album. I might get that album and scrobble it one day.

I just read an article that he has 6 or more full-length follow-ups that he has kept in his vault in the time since. I wish he would release them. I need more of his music in my life

probably they're nowhere near as good as the best of their one album. i hope he lets them out one day but i respect him keeping the legacy of the project so pure and focused
