I remember reading somewhere a looooooooong time ago that the idea behind the P.TM name was to use a country's name to create the image of a "larger than life" persona that could refer to the band as a whole or any of its individual members. as for why Portugal specifically I have no idea.

hmm hard to give a good rec because they have a pretty diverse discography and I'm not really familiar with a lot of the artists on your profile but I'm guessing you'd be into their more progressive/experimental stuff so maybe check out Gold Fronts and if you like that give the whole "Waiter: You Vultures!" album a shot and work your way up through their releases chronologically. imo they peaked around 2009 with Satanic Satanist, after that they got a bit too pop for my taste. sorry it took me a while to reply, I don't always check this very often.

i've been listening to their first album for years but kinda forgot it existed and went to check them back out the other day and i was like, yo shit when did these guys explode in popularity, the fuck? it's very well deserved but i've never been more aware of the fact that i live under the biggest rock in the world

their new shit is bordering on glass animals version of faux-indie rock pop shit like if da kid laroi was in local natives or some shit but they made a lot of great shit and I just realized I've been listening to them for 16 years so they're allowed. god bless

they really glowed up since waiter you vulture days 🔥💪🎧✨ I appreciate their older albums still but it's great that they have producers who understand their vision nowadays, Woodstock is a masterpiece of headphone music

more like they saw what kind of money they could make if they focused on making pop music and adjusted their vision accordingly. they've basically completely abandoned their psychedelic and experimental music roots. I personally find the older music to be far better, I don't even bother with anything released after 2011

to each their own, I personally think Censored Colors and The Satanic Satanist are boring ideas and uninspired execution. But hey that's the great thing about their old albums, they will never go away and we can always go back and appreciate em. Im still glad they found a way to make money off their work😉

found them years ago and now surprised I’m not sad/disappointed because of them being mainstream, as I usually am with artists once they become famous and suddenly lose themselves. instead I’m glad and happy for them since I truly believe they deserve to be known and recognised. brilliant guys ehh
