Some of you on these shouts take music way too seriously, this a cute bop and sometimes that's all you need.

well in korea this is now the most successful SM debut track in korea since…shinee? so as much as i’d like to hear them do better we’re probably going to be getting a lot more like it lol

and yes, that’s a low bar, SM debuts usually flop on the charts…aespa just barely beat that curse but GAG is doing a clear level or two better than BM did, so yeah, it is going to become a template

SM is musically the best k-pop company and i love plenty of lighthearted shinee and dream stuff, but i’m actually astonished by how bad this is. zero ideas, zero depth, zero hooks, zero fun, zero vocal talent or musical charisma shown…LSM is a legendary criminal and had to go but if this is a sign of what’s to come then maybe he really was more important than anyone wants to admit…

i would just switch things, make "memories" their debut title track and make this the pre-release, because "memories" is better. i agree that theres nothing memorable in "get a guitar" but is a nice song, i just wish the vocal production was better. if anything, this year nmixx proved with "love me like this" that you can make an "empty song" go higher places with an incredible vocal production full of ad-libs and vocal layers

1) those three, plus “7th sense” and “fire truck” were groundbreaking songs for k-pop at the time and total classics now. “chewing gum” is amazing, probably the best super cutesy korean boy band song ever made. even “take off” is at least A-tier. “mama” was a sidewinder choice for a debut, but so bold and bizarre and cool. again “happiness” is the only one i think kind of sucks (booyah!) but as far as goofy disney vibes go it’s still just so much better than GAG. i just can’t find a single thing that’s good about it, let alone “SM caliber.” 2) is it flopping in korea? i’m not sure. it’s definitely not the instant sensation “replay” was but that’s literally the last time SM ever enjoyed that immediacy. sales are strong and the song briefly graced the 90s on melon’s top chart, which is better than nothing. deals everywhere with musinsa, baskin robbins. i’m not sure what SM’s expectations were, especially after a couple of very-bad-for-korea scandals, but it seems okay to me so far

but steepcurve is right about pretty much everything imo. The chorus also really reminds me of some other song but I cant seem to put my finger on it

This just feels... like a loaded statement with anything really backing it up. This couldn't be further from second generation, are we just throwing random statements out there to discredit that they're a strong rookie group? It seems if the song doesn't fit your standard of what an SM boy group song should be, it's a bad song. Every time a new SM group debuts, it feels this is the same narrative until maybe the 2nd comeback. The idea is smooth, emotional, effortless pop. How does that constitute as zero depth? Why does it need a hook when the chorus is contagious? Does every song need multiple belts to have vocal talent? The charisma part is just dead wrong. This just sounds like a statement where you wanted something different than what RIIZE got. It's okay to admit that but don't do all this...

1) i just want good music 2) SM debut songs have always been very good music since at least 2007, sometimes game-changingly great 3) this song is sweaty garbage
