Don't know about the lyrics - I don't think they are at all important in a Bond title song :) - but musically I don't see how they declined this track under the excuse of it being 'too dark' in favour of "Writing on the Wall". Was it that they first declined Radiohead, then got "Writing" which happened to be even more grim (and even more gay:)... and then it was too late to change anything.))
