this is probably the best song on ANTi, when I first heard it I was (pleasantly) surprised that Rihanna would make a song like this but then I saw it's a carbon copy of another song, it's a shame the best song on the album isn't even her own song lol [2]

There's almost no effort put into this "cover", don't say she's "artistically involved". It's nice she's showing she likes Tame Impala but she could have tried something a bit different at least, because her version is simply pointless when you know and like the original. The only good aspect I could see in this is that it will maybe get some Rihanna lovers into Tame Impala (who make far better music).

What's wrong with it being a karaoke? New Person, Same Old Mistakes is one of those song that should never be covered 'cause covering it = changing it and a cover would never be good as the original. Rihanna is not claiming that it's her song, Kevin Parker is the only one credited, he will be getting all royalties from album sales and Rihanna's performances on her tour. Not to mention that Tame Impala is completely happy with Rihanna's decision to cover the song and include it on ANTI. The fact that Rihanna chose this song is the proof that she is artistically involved. Get over it [3]
