The most liked comment on the Bad Seeds page, which names Nick Cave as "the dark Sinatra," says a lot about the overall quality of his work these days. And Rowland breathed darkness and tobacco smoke until his last days.

One of the most distinctive and creative guitarists of his day. Nick Cave gets a lot of credit for The Birthday Party's sound/greatness and he certainly deserves praise, but for me it's the sleazy drugged-out jazz-blues of Rowland's guitar that really attracts me to their stuff, which is probably why I prefer Prayers on Fire to Junkyard, because the former is such a musically fucked up and unique record and a showcase for Rowland's weird genius.

Pashing with the devil at the bus stop... To those of you whom call him ugly.... Damn. Shame on you. He was one of the most beautiful ones both physically and mentally. And oh, so very talented. Sad I didn't get to see him 2007/2008 when I discovered him. He had so much more to give, both to his family & musically. Few people remain this good all thru their life, like Rowly did. Rest in peace, Rowly.
