You can definitely tell that Rush pulled inspirations from both England's shoegaze/dream pop movement and America's grunge movement.

After the appaling Presto and lacklustre RtB I'd lost hope. This was wham bang back to form. They actually sounded like a proper 'power' trio again, thanks in no small part to the beefy production. In retrospect it's maybe a bit uneven but the sheer power and commitment shine through. This and Angels is the best Rush of the post Signals era.

Animate, Leave That Thing Alone, Cold Fire, and Everyday Glory are very good, Leave That Thing Alone is one of their best instrumentals.

This might be Neil's weakest moment, lyrically. Too heavy-handed. Not a bad album otherwise though.

Leave That Thing Alone is yet another great instrumental song by this band. The musicianship is underrated and very powerful. It's amazing only three guys can make that sound.

Thank God! This is more like it. Roll the Bones was so terrible that anything would have been better than another Rupert Hine trainwreck. There were a few songs where I think they were trying too hard (cough cough stick it out cough cough), but I love Cut to the Chase and Alien Shore.

I really liked this album when it came out.... I still listen to it occasionally, but its not my favorite of the latter-day Rush. There's a depressing mood to it and it also reminds me of being a 12 year old geek. There's a lot of good riffs here though. Animate is the track that stands out to me the most these days.

Great follow up to Roll The Bones, if 90's music is something you like then the is Rush's take on it. Nice tight album not lacking in 90's flare.

This album grows on you, much like the other mroe recent Rush hard rock albums (Roll The Bones, Presto, Test For Echo, Vapor Trails and Snakes & Arrows). All of those are highly recommended.
