(1 of 2) posted 03-04-2007 [March 4] ‘….SPARKS ignite in training for thought about no-one & nothing in particular / there's good will inside of me…’ This is the core of the song. Sparks are what you see when you reach an ephemeral & momentary state of Nirvana, when you have the most inspirational thought, or conversely think about something banal…but either way you transcend higher plains/realms/dimensions & you are in union with them for a brief moment in time: as sparks don’t last more than a second. For the truly enlightened ones, you see SPARKS every now & then in moments of solitude & privacy, OR they could just appear out of nowhere, much like a network of spies/angels/aliens or a combination these three: this agnostic’s new found pseudo HOLY TRINITY.

(2 of 2) The other message of the song is about expressing how Daniel JOHNS wants to live The Right Life, the fair life, the ethical life. He's forsaking drugs, booze, sex with groupies...& he wants to be faithful to his wife Natalie Imbruglia. He wants to be a believer, desperate to find in life all that is good & righteous. He's obviously looking very fit & toned in the video, so he is now healthy, gotten over his growing pains & past health problems that engulfed him prior ‘…wake me up strong in the morning…’. The line: '…set me on fire in the evening…' is Daniel reaffirming his love of being a superstar on stage & performing music. The first two lines to me suggest smoking cigarettes & drugs kills & leads to no-one. Overall an inspirational COLDPLAY-esque song.

v same here. Pfft Waiting All Day should have been the main single.! I don't even think that one was single. Honestly I have no idea, but this song isn't that spectacular to me?

When I first met them in Loft Berlin,on their first European tour,as their parents were setting up their instruments,it was the grunge music delivered from an australian young musicians with lots of respect.

Can't get how anyone CAN'T love this song. it's amazing. yes, a lot of the album was "eh" at best, but this one's amazing!

I'm not a fan of Young Modern but I respect it and I really love live versions of some songs from that album. But this one... I just can't listen to it no matter how hard I try. I'm very happy that Mr Johns finally walks in a straight line but I just can't understand why he had to tell the world about it this way.

i think if you identify strongly with the emotions of neon ballroom, you can appreciate what young modern says. what the time and personal growth between the two albums says.

Not quite the sound I'd come to expect from these guys, of course, it's been years since I've listened....
