Son of Sam is the reason AFI stopped sounding like AFI: Davey got all this horrorpunk out of his system. Similar to how the new AFI record will not sound electronic at all as Davey got all the synth sounds out of his system with Blaqk Audio. Just watch.

October is the best month for Son of Sam. Great band.

Neither Davey nor Ian come within miles of Danzig. That said, Davey's work here is tolerable at least, since AFI is complete garbage. Ian isn't bad, but just doesn't have much of an "identity" to his vocals. Saying "no Davey, no Son of Sam" is bullshit though. Try "No Samhain, no Son of Sam." This band has never been about the vocals since the guy behind the sound of the original band isn't singing on either album. If this band is "about" anyone, it's about Steve & Todd.

Davey's vocals, Ian's vocals, it doesn't matter. It's the music that matters. If they go down the hole, then whatever. But, I'm still a fan, regardless.

The music on the album is killer, but Ian's voice just ruins it.

yea... just listened to that new song 'the bleeding'... whoever that is on vocals sux ass compared to havok IMO but the music is still good... his vocals ruined it for me though

wtf at people hating it... songs from the earth is a great album and havok is a fucking amazing singer so i dont really understand that one... its not as good as say, samhain, but its still a great record
