most overblown manufactured "controversy" ever and it's all because the people upset about it are children. and i'm not saying "children" as a derogatory term, i mean the ppl upset are literal minors who run stan accounts and haven't experienced enough music in their lives to understand that musicians make tributes to iconic dead artists literally all the time

why should chronically online stans who didn't even know sophie get to dictate whether the tribute of someone who actually KNEW sophie is 'weird' or not. like this is genuinely odd behaviour

she also didn't know Nina Simone, Marilyn Monroe, or Candy Darling... she's not saying "my" in a close friend way, she's saying "my" in a respect/loving as an inspiration way. a lot of people really did the most with their reactions to that line tbh

gorgeous as fuck omg, the chorus is so euphoric and lovely 🥹 I love the lyrics. she’s eulogizing Sophie in a beautiful way and I personally think people were doing the most about it… anyway, a discography highlight!!

st Vincent LOVES sophies art, how can people not see this why is everyone assuming theres a malicious undertone here when all she did was make a song dedicated to a artist she found important and meaningful.

my issue is that the end of the verse sorta came off as romanticizing the death with the lyrics "But for a minute, what a view What a view" though i dont see the transphobia at all...i think people are just quick to jump to that

i think people are too much protective of somebody who they dont even knew. annie was not transphobic, nor romanticized her death, neither treated her with disrespect of any kind. so why the fuck there’s so many angriness and bitterness about it? its giving swifties kinda culty possessive behavior

didn’t knew about daniel, i will check his work! but yeah, people saying “let her rest in peace!!” as if annie said something agressive or was talking shit about sophie’s life, relationships, etc. calm down. everybody dies. tragically or not.
