just heard today (via the lovely sail on podcast) that this song fits no fewer than 8 key changes into 120 seconds. surprised i've never noticed before – beyond insane, and possibly unprecedented? has anyone ever meaningfully done that even in the 50 years since?

In 1978, Beach Boys supporting keyboardist Daryl Dragon commented on the song's various key changes: "From a harmony standpoint, I've never heard a song like that since I've been in pop music. I've never heard a song go through that many changes and come back." [wikipedia]

I echo lrathbon - there is more in these two minutes than some songs FOUR TIMES AS LONG!

Absolutely stunning song that continues the trend of upbeat songs on Sunflower, of course with some brilliant melancholy from Brian Wilson as well. It goes through what seems like dozens of chord changes in under 2 minutes but not a second is wasted and everything ends up fitting together. The absolutely highlight for me is the coda, when the song closes with a powerful group vocal but also a breathtaking background read of the title by Brian. 5/5
