I don't think the new album is disappointing at all. Unless you were wanting a Buy The Ticket 2.0, with its gorgeous bluesy/country leanings. In that case The Door Behind The Door lacks an element, but imo this record is a solemn nod to The Black Ryder's past but a definitive step forward. In my opinion the progression gets tangled in indulgence but they've been away for six years - you can't expect too sharp of a focus. I think this album is also a real grower. Can't wait to see them if they come back to Australia. :)
