They might not want to seem funny and being clever or not is a much broad concept that include the time when they decided it. As LFM/Wiki description says it is a "play" and I believe these had much more a provocative intention at that time. I really don't know what to think about this band. I love them, i love listening to their songs, but I sometimes feel that they have written a hundred times the same song, again and again. But I love their songs, btw. Strange feeling.

Sorry but I totally disagree. Does Styggo i.e. sound in any way like the same as Godless does or Green? To me their last albums sound very different to their early ones.
