Oooh - flashback... My older sister bought The Monkees' debut album in '66 and passed it on to me a few years later as her tastes evolved and the so-called pre-fab four weren't so hip. As time goes on, historians and critics reassess -- and what once seemed cheesy sometimes gets renewed appreciation. I got to keep "The Monkees" in my vinyl collection for about 20 years til I returned it to my sister so she could give it to her daughter. Before "Take A Giant Step" popped up on last.fm, I hadn't heard much from the album -- except when Steve Van Zandt (Disciples of Soul, E Street Band, Asbury Jukes, "The Sopranos") played "Saturday's Child" on his syndicated "Underground Garage" radio show. Thanks again Little Steven!
