for better or worse, Bob Markley is the reason these records exist. A truly messed up guy, with a dark story, but with his trust fund money he was able to fast track the band (originally called the Laughing Wind before Markley) to a major label deal with no track record of regional/chart/radio success. He knew how good Lloyd and the Harris brothers were very early on. Markley couldn't get out of his own way though, and he f***ed it up in the end.

I don't know whether I like Part One, Where's My Daddy?, or Markley A Group the most. All fantastic albums though they stopped being as avant-garde after Vol. 3

The WCPAEB was an exceptionally avant-garde act, for it's time. They captured the political, and cultural relativism of the times in an encapsulated-form. They were formed in L. A., but definitely has a Frisco-vibe about them. I always loved the dreamy, love-trip: Smell of Incense. The tune Shifting Sands definitely has a "Jefferson Airplane" quality to it. Peace out!

That gal in the pic shown (above lower right) with the band playing probably would have made a good field plough back in the day. Hmm... thinking... Hmm... the more I look at it ... Check her excellent um... ha ha... cranial structure too. Pack mule perhaps? I'm rotten, ain't I? Geez. Damn, she'd look great in a harness for The North 40 plow. Put her up against a team of oxen. Keep her down on the farm - horse & corn-fed, good apples & sugar cubes. Check her teeth first for trenchmouth & other assorted horse illnesses etc. .Damn, lQQk how wide open that mouth of hers is. That mouth/teeth should not be wasted. Giddy - yup !!!
