I understand that it sounds random... as indeed it does to my ears also... but in fact it is completely determined by a fairly small number of quite simple processes, none of them even pseudo-random. It is twelve-tone, to be sure, and as such atonal. Past a certain point of complexity, the ear loses it ability to distinguish the pattern, although a certain flavor remains. This is a strict four-part canon, which I think registers at the unconscious level only, as the voices enter at intervals of several minutes. Beyond that, tedious or exciting, eerie or soothing, our reactions are very subjective. It simply exists, and we walk around it touching it tentatively. Interest palls or does not pall...

Hi Tim! A great piece you have done, we have listened to it with Lena, and we both liked it. We didn't experience it nightmarish or even dark though, but found the atmosphere rather pleasant, sort of non-intrusive space music. The instrumentation and the sounds were beautiful, and the harmonies were interesting. I myself got a strong association to the Ukranian composer Valentin Silvestrov's music, especially his piece Metamusik. For Lena the strange harmonies brought up an association to Stravinsky's and Scriabin's music. As there is no structural development on the track, listening to it feels like floating in a spot of a tonal space or sea with a specific flora of ever recurring events surrounding you.
