Any fans of this one oughta check out Mutiny Within and their 2010 debut album. I find a lot of similarities between the two. Think of it as a mix between this album and the band Unearth. MW were on Roadrunner Records as well.

I can't pick my favourite Trivium album, but that one is definitely the most digestible. Like, I can listen to it in any mood at any time, even if I already have listened to it today. And I only listen to the special edition of this album, there are 18 tracks and all of them are perfect, not a single filler

The fact that A Grey So Dark is NOT on the original album makes the Special Edition a must-have.

After The Crusade and especially Shogun, I hated this album upon its release. I did not like it for several years after that but it has really grown on me over time. I still prefer their older stuff, or even Vengeance Falls, but this is not as bad as I initially thought. The production is probably my favorite on any Trivium album. Still a few stinkers in here but the cooler tracks make it a decent album nonetheless.

Same. Except I hated The Crusade too; Shogun really turned me around on the band but then this dropped and it honestly NOPE'd me back out for several years.

The Crusade has cringeable vocals, and Shogun is just boring and thrashless. In Waves picks up the thrash influence pace, returning to form with Ascendancy and Embers. I don't like it better than Ascendancy, but definitely a kick ass album. Honestly its the only Trivium album since Ascendancy that I like. I love the production too.

I actually got to appreciate this album more with time. It doesn't blow your mind, but it never gets boring.

I came here to see if others were as uninterested in this album as I am. I really loved their last three albums and thought maybe I just didn't "get" this one or something. Looks like others don't care for it much either. Hopefully a return to greatness comes with the next one.

Even on listening closely I can't quite pinpoint how this album is so thoroughly uninteresting...but it just sounds so generic. The choruses and production are part of it, but the other reasons elude me.

How the fuck did this band manage to write something uninteresting? After Shogun, this is the biggest drop of quality from an awesome album I've heard. Interludes should never be more creative than the metal songs themselves.

Absolutely their best since The Ascendancy IMO. Brought me back to listening to Trivium...

Damn. A Grey So Dark and Chaos Reigns (especially this one) kick so much ass :/ The final non-bonus track, "Leaving This World Behind" is cool up until the end. I really wished it would blend with Shattering the Skies Above, not just abruptly end ;_; Oh well. The Sepultura cover is good, but not anything outstanding. Overall a nice album, but only in the Special Edition.

I'm a really big fan of Trivium, but really, all I can say at first listen is... meh. The only two songs I really 'like' (not just listen for the Trivium-ness) are Capsizing the Sea + In Waves (that 1 second pause between them is perfect, even if Capsizing dragged on for a teensy bit too long), and Watch the World Burn. Of course, I still have to listen to the Special Edition songs. Shattering the Skies Above = FUCK YEAH. Wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Shogun>Ascendancy/In Waves>The Crusade>Ember to Inferno At first listen I was just kind of "eh" on this album, but now I really like it a lot. Once again, just as with Shogun and The Crusade, they made an album that sounds unlike their previous work. While I'm a huge fan of Shogun, I really enjoy and appreciate that they experiment and have different sounds with each album.
