It's funny how this was originally a fan-made video approved by VNV Nation... and now its sort of the official video lol. The song is a little cheesy but it has a great message (and far from VNV Nation's best song!!!)

I used to enjoy it but... Grew sick of it. Some stuff happened in my life that made this song more important than I ever imagined. It is cheese fest. But it fantastic. Thanks, VNV.

Futurepop was never about darkness or being brutal. But as we maturate with age, we all see some new meaning in what we used to call 'cringe', hope this will happen with us all as well. Also, sometimes simple words have more meaning than all over-ambitious-wannabes. It's what I love in early industrial, it's what is power of some simple-worded other songs too.

This song were written for Sophie Lancaster, murdered one night in 2007 while coming home. She and her boyfriend were attacked by drunken teenager thugs simply because they were goths."I don't want you to hate for all the hurt that you feel, the world is just illusion trying to change you"

Jesus... So for whatever reason I decided to give these guys another chance and listen to their most popular song on Spotify. But seriously, wtf!? This sucks. I mean really really sucks... it sounds like a guy at a karaoke bar singing in a cringe-inducing manner over a really lame, generic synth preset. And the lyrics, oh my god, holy hell. "Please don't go, I want you to stay. I'm begging you please, please don't leave here". What, are we 14 years old, penning our first text? How the hell did these guys get popular... This is like the "synth" version of Radiohead's "Creep", but with absolutely none of the talent. It must be the "emo" crowd responsible for this, I can see no other explanation. Oh dear god, nooo.... *Rant finished, you can flame me now. But I'm no troll for sure, this really just is that bad...*

I seriously hope you have heard Ronan's latest effort "Noire", which is in itself far superior to this, from start to finish. Perhaps the instrumentals tend to be quite boring and lackluster, but he definitely upped his game with the rest of the material on that album.

automatonomous - blimey, mate! I think you're reading a little too much into this. This song proved anthemic when goth girl, Sophie Lancaster, was murdered in Bacup, Manchester, England just for being a goth. She was killed because she was different. This song is for the dispossessed, the alienated and the lonely. It basically says "chin up mate; the world and its values are bullshit. Just carry on being you and fuck what anyone else thinks. I don't know what you've been smoking but I reckon you need to lay off it! LOL.

it's clearly softened propaganda...White power used strong arm Oi Nazi Punk in the 80's and 90's and it was too conspicuous and didn't draw in very many females to the white power movement. Just listen to what the messages are. I don't want them to change you...We aren't like them...They don't understand us/you. Come over here and spend some time with us. We can talk about what we all believe and you can finally feel like you're not alone and have allies in this backward world. Join usssss....Such utter garbage. Somebody below said it...cringe worthy. Bad music with an utterly transparent objective. Draw in the timid kids and young men and also harvest some women to the cause. Ohh...I just puked in my mouth a bit.

@ the recent posts expressing confusion about why people like this song: I don't interpret the song as being a love-sick lament/saccharin plea for affection, but rather an expression of concern, affection, loss and longing towards a loved one who feels that life may not worth living. It is a hand of acceptance extended to a friend, hoping to lead them out of a dark place. It is worth noting that the VNV dedicated this song to 'Sophie Lancaster', who was attacked and killed by a group of teenagers while walking through a park with her boyfriend, who suffered permanent brain damage in the assault. They were supposedly attacked for the way they dressed. The song was not written about the event, but its dedication is a good indication that its lyrics are more about injury (emotional or physical) and death than unrequited love.
