"New Birmingham"-- like New Orleans-- would have been the wiser choice in hindsight to satisfy the need for disambiguation (in text, not pronunciation). Of numerous places I've lived, Birmingham, AL was by far my favorite. Lovely if you're into urban exploration. NamesAreBStupid, I do still agree the original city is far more prominent and that Alabamians should have a separate tag. Anyway, it's the same old Last.fm issue of different entities having to share one title!

There is only one Birmingham. It's in the UK.
