The nu metal of the 2010, the similarities that US dubstep had with nu metal in their primes are crazy Hated by most people of its parent genre Douchey asshole-ish stereotype surrounding it (I mean for US dubstep it got so bad that this tag is called fucking brostep) Got way too oversaturated and mainstream for what it is, so it burned bright and died young Also, both genres go hard as fuck. I hope one day this stuff gets critically re-evaluated and we can treat stuff like Fire Hive and Right In as the bangers they are.

Have to agree, I would use breakcore or electro house instead, but definitely not dubstep.

There is beauty in repetition which obviously this doesn’t have or a headiness that it doesn’t have. This music might have movement but doesn’t really offer anything and creatively stays in compounds of its sound as well which is just “hands in the air” and no real culture maybe just recycled culture. It’s not my sort of energy

k, your reasonement is fair although i disagree when you say this has nothing to offer. i'm not gonna say that the mainstream sucks and the underground scene is brilliant because the mainstream does suck and the 'scene'' is pretty much dead but the few who tried to make something else and didn't fell for that monster energy-call of duty aesthetic displayed a better side of the genre. to each their own though.

I tagged a bunch of actual real dubstep with this like 3 or 4 years ago out of contempt for the brostep haters and now I'm into the actual real dubstep and I feel really bad. Not for the elitist fuckheads that invented this genre but for the magnificent genre they were oh-so-aptly defending

Brostep is different to Dubstep in that Brostep is based on Mid range rather than Sub Bass, Coki started Brostep in 2007 with Spongebob.

I've never liked how dismissive the term "brostep" is, but it was necessary to differentiate this stuff from the rest of dubstep. [5]

[4] I think ultimately I prefer more garagey minimal dubstep like Burial but there are times when Skrillex just really does it for me. He's undeniably an incredibly talented producer.

I've never liked how dismissive the term "brostep" is, but it was necessary to differentiate this stuff from the rest of dubstep. It's a term used to put oneself and one's musical taste above another's. it's like "hipster", it's a word used by self-proclaimed patricians with a deep-seated need to put something down. The fanbases associated with brostep can be a pretty awful bunch, but the music itself has been an important stepping stone for electronic.

Anyone who was a fan of dubstep before the American bastardisation of the word began will understand why this term was created.

I think I may have mass-tagged every actual dubstep artist with "brostep". Sorry. We can't be having that dreaded tag anymore. Dubstep died for brostep. It literally THREW IT'S INTANGIBLE BODY in the way of the moving train that is society.
