Were there any Canadian pop/rock'n'roll artists of the late-1950s/early-1960s? I'm aware of such artists from Australia and New Zealand, so I am quite certain there's Canadian ones as well. Can you recommend me some?

Old timin' country - Ian & Sylvia; Ian Tyson; Hank Snow; Tommy Hunter; The Rankins; Good Brothers, Stompi' Tom Connors, Blue Rodeo, Cowboy Junkies, Willie P. Bennett, Great Speckled Bird, k.d.lang, Neil Young, Terri Clark, Anne Murray. The interesting thing about Canada and its music, especially country music, is the breadth of the country is such that you can travel 200 km and the style of the music, basically the base of the music, has changed to such an extent that it bears only a passing resemblance to the town 200 km to your rear. This is just a brief list of Canadian country artists from the past some who are well known both here and in the US - Hank Snow is a Member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Ian & Sylvia were ground breakers on the folk scene in Greenwich village on the East ide of New York in the late 50s & early 60s, along with Gordon Lightfoot, Buffy Ste. Marie, Zal Yanovsky, from Toronto as a member of the Lovin' Spoonful.

I didn't see Gordon Lightfoot or Hank Snow, or Tragically Hip or Michel Legrand or Oscar Peterson or "Stompin" Tom Connors or Anne Murray or Bruce Cockburn or Guess Who mentioned in the conversation. Canada has a long and proud musical heritage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Canadian_cultures has pretty well everything you need to know about Canadian music and Canada's music heritage. You'll be surprised by the inroads Canadian musicians have made in the music industry and the high esteem in which they are held by their fellow musicians. Then use LAST.FM, or a Canadian streaming service that offers oldies and listen to this great music. When I was growing up listening to The Beatles, Rolling Stones & Kinks we never channel hopped if Gordon Lightfoot or The Ugly Ducklings or The Paupers came on, it was just more good music, "Hey, they're from Toronto!" and then it was back to The Animals. And besides, there were 7 bands and 7 completely different styles of music.

Happy 150! 150 amazing years of being a Confederate nation under one flag. It's great to see that our wonderful country is still flourishing.
