2040: last.fm shuts down and the 404 error robot is shown whenever somebody not on the Wayback Machine tries to access last.fm. last.fm users are sent a letter handwritten by last.fm staff members thanking them for participating in a "music experience documentation program" to former users' confusion. One year later, they are emailed a PDF version of the book The last.fm User Interaction Compendium, which is an exhaustive document of every shout on every artist/band, album, song, tag, concert and user shoutbox. Even the groups that were thought to be lost to time were documented. The document is only printed once due to the amount of trees killed to make a physical copy. The last.fm User Interaction Compendium is sent in a rocket ship like the Golden Record to be found by intelligent extraterrestrial organisms in the hopes that they can appreciate the artforms of music and writing. Thank you, last.fm. This website made me grow as a music listener and a human being.
