Released as a single on June 20, 1989 by the The B-52's, "Love Shack" was taken from the album "Cosmic Thing". It was the band's biggest hit song, reaching number 3 in the US and number 2 in the UK. The track's inspiration was a cabin in Athens, Georgia (USA), where the band originates from - which was located off the "Atlanta Highway" (as per the lyrics). The song was produced by Don Was and the music video was directed by Adam Bernstein.
The B-side to the track was "Roam" in the USA, with other countries having either "Channel Z" or "Rock Lobster" as the B-side.
