This is easily the best song off GHS, and one of (if not) their best ballads, deserves more recognition. Both Jagger and Watts are superb.

This is the best stones song... how could it not be? The strings on this song are impeccable

What a song. Mick Taylor plays beautifully, and the strings are breathtaking. A majestic tune

@PSU_strummer: Brian Jones had been dead for more than 3 years when this record was released. The lead guitar is played by Mick Taylor, who replaced Jones a bit before Jones's demise. Infact the gig on which the Stones planned to introduce Taylor to public turned out to be a Brian Jones memorial. Furthermore, Keith Richards doesn't play at this track at all and I believe the rhythm guitar is played by Jagger.

@HISTORIANS/GUITARISTS: the "hook" / lick / guitar bit which leads this song off [at least, first minute or three], i swear-- i have played / play that lick a lot. Strange, however that I am nearly /completely/ unfamiliar with this particular stones tune [sorry, fans-- it was lack of exposure, merely]. it's hendrix-ish, i'd say-- and, moreover, the "lead" guitar bit, toward the outtro, not unlike some Hendrix favourite intervals (i.e. Major Pentatonic, ah-la "Third Stone...", and oddly, considering the "playlist" last.fm gave me, in succession, i believe also-- not unlike some of what Jimi is doing in "May This Be Love" [Are You Experienced?]). i'm afraid i do not know who is the guitarist who plays each bit, but i'd like to know. sadly, i never have assimilated the whole Stones' history enough to understand about Brian Jones, et al., however-- isn't there some notable friendship between Jimi and B.J.? the question, i pose then: is this a Brian Jones ditty?

that album was just marking time. (keef richards) amazing how the stones' "mark time" better than most bands give it all they got. Esp during the early '70's. Mick Taylor's solo just floats my boat. So much passion. That video, too, with gram parsons and other departed folks, even brian jones. nothing like this as bittersweet
