Corky Siegel is blues harmonica player, pianist and composer, perhaps best known for forming the Siegel-Schwall Band in 1964 with guitarist Jim Schwall.
Following Siegel-Schwall's break up in 1974, Siegel formed the Happy Year Band with Sam Lay, the late Albert Joseph on guitar and Siegel-Schwall alumnus Rollo Radford on bass, in 1975. Siegel later formed the ensemble Chamber Blues with a string quartet, tabla and harmonica/piano. This unusual group features Frank Donaldson, a 20-year veteran drummer with jazz icon Ramsey Lewis. Siegel continues to record, has earned several composing honors and is a regular performer and lecturer in the Chicago Public Schools. In 2007 he wrote a book, Let Your Music Soar: The Emotional Connection.
Siegel also tours with the Siegel-Schwall Band, which re-formed in 1987, with the Chicago Blues Reunion, as well as for solo and other musical projects. These are all detailed at Siegel's website, http://www.chamberblues.com/. He also maintains a MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/chamberblues.
