Biography
Daymark is an Atlanta based band that formed in early 2009. The band was assembled as a side project to explore other music genres by three active members in the Atlanta music community. Guitar player and back up-vocalist Mick Mayer of the indie-rock band Red Sea recruited Grace Kelly, a soul-inspired singer songwriter, to play bass and sing vocals, and Hank Pratt, guitarist of the well-known hardcore band Foundation, to play drums.
Despite the vast genre disparities in their songwriting, the three members quickly composed a five song set.
In May 2009, the band recorded two songs and released a short self-titled demo. And by short, I mean three and a half minutes long.
Influenced by such acts as Hole, Braid, The Dead Milkmen, American Football, and the Cranberries, their sound can be identified with nineties pop punk.
Constant touring by members of the band in their other projects and traveling postponed many other promotional opportunities. Unfortunately the band has only gotten to play two shows thus far in their career. Both times, Daymark was asked by the band Title Fight to open for them at the PS Warehouse.
In May of 2010 the band went back into the studio to record three more songs.
Currently Daymark is exploring offerings by a few labels and focusing on writing in the breaks they have in between duties to their other bands.
They intend to play more shows throughout the city and release a EP within the next year.
